These tips are arranged in order of process. Some of them are broad while others are situationally specific.
Not everything will be applicable to you. I have tried to keep things in as easy to understand language as possible with examples if need be.

Don’t be afraid of experimenting. Push the models to their limits. What you give is what you get. This is a writing hobby. Try to work on one thing at a time. Try to find your niche. Most importantly: All measures of quality are either to subjective to stand up to scrutiny, cease to be useful when they’re measurements become targets, or to narrow to be anything but somones taste dressed up as a rubric. So don’t think to hard on whats popular or not, or if your work is good enough quality, just think about whats fun for you. If you post, you will find people into whatever you are.

What length should your bot be?
- The community standard for large: 1.5k+
- The technical standard for large: 2.5-3.5k
Since even 2025, contexts have expanded exponentially. Cloud models can remember hundreds of thousands of tokens. Local models have grown to having 16-32k tokens of optimal performance context.

Here are the standards I use

Aim for under 2k total perm if you need a baseline until you get a good feel for what neccessary token counts are. Should you have a token heavy goal in mind; follow alicats rule of up to 1/4th of the context. If you do end up making a card over 3-4k, I recommend writing in the Tagline to use specific large context models.
💡 You can put much of your situational information and worldbuilding in Lorebooks, leaving short lines to act as anchoring keys. Not to mention, the models are suprisingly good at extrapulating from single sentances. If you are confused on how to make a lorebook I posted a guide here: Lorebooks: How They Tick
For example: when I made my SCP CYOA I included the barest details of what each object and lore was, with a optional add on Lorebook to get the full experience for those who had the specs to run it. Lorebooks expand the stage for the story; but not having them didn’t make the bot function any worse.
